Veenhusen is a bathing lake formed from a former sand extraction site that operated between 2000 and 2011. The water body was profiled during the extraction process with consideration for its future use as a bathing area. The western shore is managed for natural habitat development, allowing nature conservation and recreational swimming to coexist.
