Moia - Scaricatore is a bathing area on Lake Sirio in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. The facility features an equipped bathing establishment with a large grassy area and pontoons, with coarse gravel on the lake floor and a very shallow bottom gradient. A pedestrian lakeside path in beaten earth, furnished with benches, adjoins the beach. The water is classified as Excellent based on routine samples from 2020–2023.

Water

Lake Sirio. The bathing area covers 0.388 km². The lake is situated at 266 metres above sea level. The beach width is 10 metres. The lake floor consists of coarse gravel with a very shallow slope. The catchment basin is characterized by a series of hills surrounding the lake basin, with sparsely urbanized territory around the lake.

Located in Chiaverano, Turin Province, Piedmont. The Moia - Scaricatore bathing area is situated on Lake Sirio. The responsible authority is the Municipality of Chiaverano, Piazza Ombre, 1 - 10010, telephone 0125 54805.

Facilities

Bathing establishment with deckchairs, refreshment point, toilet facilities, and pedalò rental. Lakeside area equipped with tables and chairs. Dog area present at the bathing establishment. Dogs on leash permitted on the lakeside path.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 35.9 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 61.2 MPN/100 ml. Enterococcci 90th percentile: 43.5 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 73.5 MPN/100 ml. Potential pollution sources include two circumlacual collectors discharging into Ivrea's sewage system and three lifting stations on the northern shore of the lake, which may cause microbiological parameter exceedances. Small unauthorized discharges from individual buildings via tributary streams cannot be entirely excluded.

Risks

Cyanobacterial bloom risk due to strong eutrophication of lake waters. Over the past four years, 15 cyanobacterial samples were analyzed, of which 4 showed density ≥20,000 cells/ml. Short-duration pollution events may occur due to malfunction of sewage system lifting pumps with emergency overflow activation, or blockage of sewage pipes with backflow from inspection covers. No toxic effects have been reported.
