Water

Lake Sirio. The bathing area covers 0.388 km². The lakebed has a very gentle slope with coarse gravel. Altitude is 266 meters above sea level.

Location

Chiaverano, Torino province, Piedmont region, Italy. The area is located on Lake Sirio with access via the municipality of Chiaverano (Piazza Ombre, 1, 10010). Parking information is not provided.

Facilities

Sunbeds, refreshment point, toilet services, pedalo rental, tables and chairs in the lakeshore equipped area. Dog area available at the bathing establishment. Dogs allowed on-leash along the lakeside path.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT. Based on 18 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 35.9 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 61.2 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci 90th percentile: 43.5 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 73.5 MPN/100 ml. The water body has low-medium impact classification due to Class III sewerage infrastructure. No authorized direct discharges present, though unauthorized discharges from individual buildings via tributary streams cannot be excluded.

Risks

Cyanobacteria proliferation risk due to strong eutrophication of lake waters. Over the past four years, 15 cyanobacterial samples were analyzed; 4 showed density greater than or equal to 20,000 cells/ml. No toxic effects reported. Malfunctions of sewerage lifting stations may cause pollution events. Short-duration pollution events can occur from pump failures triggering emergency overflow or sewerage line blockages causing backflow from inspection manholes. Phytoplankton blooms other than cyanobacteria are normal but non-toxic.
