Lido di Viverone is a bathing area on the eastern shore of Lake Viverone in Piedmont, Italy. The beach features grassy embankment with an equipped zone, paved promenade, and artificial banks. Sandy bottom slopes steeply at first then gradually, with partial presence of stones. The beach width measures 2 to 2.5 metres. The area is characterised by lakeside vegetation and concludes at Punta Becco.

Lake Viverone. Area extension: 1.534 km. Altitude: 230 metres above sea level. Sandy bottom, strongly sloping in the first section then gradually sloping with partial presence of stones.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT. Classification based on 18 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 94.2 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 185.1 MPN/100 ml. Enterococcci 90th percentile: 36.6 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 59.1 MPN/100 ml. Wastewater treatment: circumlacual collector terminating in treatment plant in Azeglio (Turin). Impact class: Medium-High, determined by sewer class IV.

Risks

Two overflow structures within 300–400 metres of the monitoring point could affect water quality during heavy rainfall or high tourist influx without adequate maintenance. Undersized collector and technical inadequacy of overflow structures could cause lake discharge. Possible contamination from boats releasing mineral oils or fuel. Possible phytoplankton proliferation. Zone subject to consistent blooms of aquatic macrophytes (Ceratophyllum demersum, Myriophyllum spicatum). In recent years, macrophyte cutting has been performed to ensure water access. One cyanobacterial sample in the last four years showed density ≥20,000 cells/ml, though no toxic effects on swimmers or ecosystems have been recorded.
