Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 21 CFU/100 ml; Escherichia coli (95th percentile): 26 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 19 CFU/100 ml; intestinal enterococci (95th percentile): 30 CFU/100 ml. No variations in quality status were observed across the 2015–2018 swimming seasons. Wastewater treatment: Servola treatment plant with submarine outfall; Barcola treatment plant with submarine outfall (conveyed to Servola plant from 2016 onwards).

Risks

Marine microalgae (Ostreopsis cf. ovata) present. No blooms exceeding threshold values were detected in the water column during 2015–2018. No cyanobacterial proliferation events reported. No cases of human health problems recorded.
