Tra E.A.P.T. e Ferroviario is a bathing area located on a concrete embankment in Trieste, Italy. The area is equipped with two bathing establishments. It is classified as excellent quality coastal seawater based on monitoring data from 2015–2018. No sustained eutrophic phenomena from cyanobacteria have been reported, and no cases of potentially toxic algal species proliferation have been detected.

Trieste, Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Italy. Coordinates: 45.671514°N, 13.754541°E. Area extends 0.37 km².

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). E. coli: 90th percentile 90 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile 140 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci: 90th percentile 32 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile 55 CFU/100 ml. No variations in water quality were observed for bathing seasons 2015–2018. Treated wastewater from Servola treatment plant is discharged via submarine pipeline.

Risks

Occasional microbiological pollution episodes linked to proximity to the old port area and activation of Montorsino stream flow to sea. Servola treatment plant (submarine discharge) and old Trieste port area are potential pollution sources. A short-duration pollution event occurred in April 2018 possibly due to drainage problems in the upper collection system of Servola treatment plant. No cyanobacterial blooms or toxic algal species proliferation have been recorded.
