Barricata beach (also known as Spiaggia di Bonelli) is a natural, unspoiled coastal strip exceeding 3000 metres in length located on the Scanno Barricata natural sandbank at the mouth of the Po di Tolle river in the Adriatic Sea within the Po delta region. The beach is oriented south-east and sits within an alluvial environment of lagoons, ponds, islands, dunes and agricultural plains. The area has been naturally formed and remains largely wild, backed by the San Guglielmo valley and extensive floodplains protected from the sea by major hydraulic engineering works.
