Water

Natural lake with area of 1.3 hectares. Mean depth 1.8 metres, maximum depth 4 metres. Water exchange time of 30 days or less. Water surface fluctuations of approximately 20 centimetres. pH ranges from 7.4 to 7.8 with mean of 7.6. Conductivity 650 µS/cm. Water transparency between 1 and 2.5 metres. Catchment area between 10 and 100 square kilometres. Located in lowland terrain below 200 metres elevation.

Location

Located in Moers, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The bathing site is operated by Sport- und Bäderbetriebe Moers GmbH, Uerdinger Straße 31, 47441 Moers.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent in 2020, 2021, and 2022; good in 2023. Eutrophic nutrient status (classification 3). No cyanobacteria blooms observed in the last four years. No future risk of cyanobacteria mass development. No risk of macroalgae or phytoplankton mass development.

Risks

Potential pollution from heavy rainfall. Minor discharges present: untreated stormwater runoff and water discharge from non-agricultural drainage systems (no relevant impact on water quality).
