Neptun is an artificial bathing lake located in Krefeld, Germany. The bathing area at Neptun/Treppe covers a 270-metre beach section. Water quality has been rated as excellent consistently from 2020 to 2023. The lake has a surface area of 1 hectare and is situated in lowland terrain at less than 200 metres elevation.

Water

Artificial lake with a surface area of 1 hectare. Sandy substrate and shoreline. Water temperature ranges from 16.9°C to 24.5°C (mean 21.8°C). pH ranges from 7.0 to 8.7 (mean 7.62). Water transparency ranges from 1 to 2.5 metres (mean 1.7 metres). Water exchange time exceeds 30 days. Water level fluctuations of 1.5 metres occur.

Located in Krefeld at coordinates UTM E: 330873 N: 5686935. The bathing area is operated by Schwimmverein Neptun 1897 e.V. at Wimmersweg 62, 47807 Krefeld.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent (2020–2023). The water body shows no significant pollution sources. No microbiological or chemical contamination in sediments has been detected.

Risks

Cercariae (duck parasites causing swimmer's itch) present at low to negligible levels. No cyanobacteria blooms observed in the past four years, and no risk of future mass developments is anticipated.
