Blid Sø

Denmark Lake 1 - Excellent

Blid Sø is a bathing water located in an ice-age depression within Addit Forest. The lake covers 5.5 hectares and is classified as excellent bathing water quality. The bathing area is situated at the eastern end of the lake, featuring a sandy beach approximately 150 metres long and 30 metres wide. The water is very clear with a visibility depth exceeding 3 metres, and depths gradually slope from 0 to 1.5 metres.

Water

Blid Sø is a lake covering 5.5 hectares with a catchment area of 46 hectares. The lake has no inflow or outflow. Water visibility depth exceeds 3 metres. Water depths range from 0 to 1.5 metres with a gentle slope. The lake bottom is sandy.

Location

The bathing area is located at the eastern end of Blid Sø in Horsens Municipality, Denmark. Access is via Femvejen road. Parking is available approximately 200 metres from the beach area.

Facilities

Toilet facilities are provided at the beach area. An information sign is located at the parking area 200 metres from the beach.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as excellent. Water quality assessment is based on data from the preceding year and three previous bathing seasons. No cyanobacterial blooms have been detected. Risk of phytoplankton growth is assessed as very low. No phytoplankton growth that would affect bathing clarity has been observed.

Risks

No cyanobacterial blooms have been documented in Blid Sø. Underwater vegetation is varied and includes up to 10 different aquatic plant species; however, no problems with washed-up plant material have been reported. Glass fragments, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. Cyanobacterial blooms are most likely to occur after rainy periods followed by warm weather.
