Water

Bruchertalsperre is a reservoir with a surface area of 46 hectares. Maximum water depth is 20.1 metres, with water temperatures ranging from 11.4°C to 24.2°C. Water transparency reaches 4.3 metres. The water body is stratified with a water exchange time exceeding 30 days. The catchment area is very small (less than 10 km²) and the reservoir is situated at an elevation above 200 metres. The substrate is rocky with a naturally structured shore.

Location

Bruchertalsperre/Segelclub is located in the Oberbergischer Kreis district, with administrative responsibility in Gummersbach. The bathing beach section extends 99 metres along the reservoir shore.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent (2019–2022). The water is mesotrophic with a pH between 7.5 and 8.6 and conductivity between 118 and 130 µS·cm⁻¹. No known microbiological, chemical, or other contamination in sediments has been identified. No pollution sources with relevant impact on water quality were detected.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacterial mass development is very low with no observed cyanobacterial blooms in the past four years. Risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton mass development is also very low. No cercariae infections have been reported.
