Damstederne is a sandy beach with a sand bottom located in Skagen. The bathing water profile extends approximately 11 kilometres along the coast with a width varying from 15 to 30 metres. The water is clear, with visibility exceeding 1 metre, and contains few or no algae and no blue-green algae. The water is salt and experiences variable currents, predominantly flowing southward.

Water

Sandy beach with sand bottom. Water depth: 0.5 metres at 5 metres from shore, 1 metre at 10 metres from shore, and 1.5 metres at 15 metres from shore. Salt water with variable currents, predominantly southward flow. Clear water with visibility exceeding 1 metre.

Location

Damstederne, Skagen. An overflow structure is located approximately 850 metres northeast of the bathing water profile.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored for E. coli and Enterococcus bacteria throughout the bathing season. Water quality is classified as excellent, good, satisfactory, or poor based on samples collected over the last four seasons. An overflow structure 850 metres northeast of the profile means sewage mixed with rainwater may enter the sea during heavy rain.

Risks

Swimming is not recommended north of the bathing water station at Damstederne during heavy rain due to potential sewage discharge. General advice against swimming in and around stream outlets.
