Plage de Cavalas is a bathing beach in the commune of Saint-Mandrier, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. The beach features a mixture of pebbles and small stones, with a gentle slope and southern exposure. It is open in configuration and experiences medium-level attendance. Access is provided via the coastal footpath of Coudoulière.

Mediterranean Sea bathing area. Beach length: 120 metres. Beach width: 10 metres. Gentle slope. Southern orientation.

Location

Saint-Mandrier, Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, France. Coordinates: 43°04.2 N 5°56.1 E. Access via the coastal footpath of Coudoulière. No parking available.

Facilities

Emergency call box equipped. Fixed waste bins present in summer season, with manual cleaning outside summer season. No lifeguard post, no showers, no toilets, no drinking water point, no disabled access, no disabled equipment, no animals allowed, no restaurants.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring results from 1977 to 1993 show generally good conditions (categories A and B). Temporary pollution occurred in 1980 and 1992 (categories C and D). Monitoring conducted by regional health authority (ARS) and self-surveillance by Communauté d'Agglomération TPM. No chemical pollution has been recorded to date.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution from canine faeces, hydrocarbures, and macro-debris via stormwater discharge. Four stormwater outlets identified; outlets 1 and 2 are non-functional. Pumping station on the access path poses risk of overflow during pump failure or heavy rainfall events, potentially discharging wastewater containing organic matter, minerals, nitrogen, phosphorus, and grease. Northeast winds tend to move pollution toward the coast, while southwest winds disperse it offshore.
