Plage du Canon is a fine sand beach located in Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The beach is 50 metres long with a north-west orientation and semi-enclosed configuration. It is used for swimming and scuba diving and experiences high visitor frequency. The beach has been classified as excellent for water quality based on microbiological monitoring.

Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer, Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Access via Quai Jean Jaurès. Parking is available. Disabled access to the beach is not available.

Showers available. Toilets available. Fixed rubbish bins present. Parking available. No lifeguard post. No drinking water point. Animals not permitted. No disabled water access equipment.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent in 2021, 2022, and 2023 based on microbiological monitoring. Indicators tracked include Escherichia coli and fecal enterococci. One suspected recreational vessel discharge incident was recorded on 12 August 2022. No chemical pollution events have been recorded to date.

Risks

Risk of microbiological pollution from a pumping station located at Quai Jean Jaurès in case of malfunction or excessive network loading. Risk of pollution from port activities including vessel discharges, hydrocarbon rejections from careening and bilge water, and accidental fuel spills. Risk from stormwater outfalls draining rainwater from Quai Jean Jaurès (300 mm diameter pipe). Potential for pollutant transport varies with wind direction; south-east winds push pollution toward shore while north-west winds disperse it offshore.
