A sandy beach with fine sand and a moderate 3% slope on both emerged and submerged sections, protected by artificial rocky outcrops. The distance between medium-low and high water levels is approximately 80 metres. The beach has a mean width of 40 metres and is located in an urbanized zone with a railway line passing nearby.

Beach establishment (stabilimento balneare) with refreshment point and sanitary services. Animals permitted.

Water Quality

Classification E. Wastewater treatment: Mixed public sewage system connected to biological treatment plant with activated sludge on two lines, capacity 15,000 inhabitants equivalent, located in Via Taffetani. COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters were compliant in 2006 and 2007. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were compliant.

Risks

Identified pollution sources: municipal treatment plant, pump stations, Menocchia stream, Hotel Oasi. Short-duration pollution events characterised as accidental failures or overflow. No cyanobacterial proliferation reported. No macroalgal or harmful phytoplankton proliferation reported.
