Dragør Søbad is a bathing area located immediately southwest of Dragør Lystbådehavn and Dragør Fortet, extending into the northeastern part of Køge Bay. The beach is approximately 575 metres long with a sandy area 20–50 metres wide and a sandy bottom. The water is classified as excellent quality based on annual statistical analysis of monitoring data from the official bathing season.

Location

Located immediately southwest of Dragør Lystbådehavn and Dragør Fortet in Dragør, Denmark. Access is via Søndre Strandvej or Vestgrønningen. Parking is available in immediate proximity to the bathing area.

Changing rooms and toilet facilities are available.

Season

Official monitoring season: 1 June to 1 September. Classification is performed annually when the bathing season ends.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality. Water quality is monitored 20 times during the bathing season (1 June to 1 September), exceeding the minimum requirement of 4 samples per season. Classification is performed annually after the bathing season based on statistical analysis of data from the current year and three preceding years.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms can occur, typically following heavy rainfall with nutrient washout followed by warm periods. Signs include unclear discoloured water, foam formation, and possible dead animals. Toxins can cause headache, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) can accumulate at the water's edge; bathing is not recommended near substantial seaweed due to potential toxin formation in decomposing material and protection of disease-causing bacteria from UV radiation. Short-term pollution from wastewater discharge occurs 0–1 times per year, typically lasting up to 3 days. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur.
