Dronningmølle Strand

Dronningmølle Strand is a sandy beach located near Dronningmølle town and Dronningmølle Campingsite. The beach is approximately 1000 metres long and 30 metres wide, with dunes and holds Blue Flag environmental certification. There are two beach access points with good parking facilities. Water samples are collected during the bathing season, with results displayed on information boards and online.

Water

Sandy seabed without fixed reef structures with numerous current channels. Water depth of 2 metres between 200–400 metres from the coast. Dominant current direction is easterly; strong cross-currents can develop during westerly and northerly winds. Saltwater with approximately 2% salinity.

Location

Located near Dronningmølle town and Dronningmølle Campingsite. Two beach access points with parking available. Parking areas located west of Lergravssøen and east of Dronningmølle Camping. Disabled access and disabled parking available at the eastern beach access point.

Facilities

Lifeguards present during bathing season, operating 10:00–18:00 during school summer holidays. Toilets available. Disabled toilet and disabled parking at eastern beach access. Rescue equipment and life ring accessible throughout the bathing season. No bathing pier. Waste bins and garbage sorting facilities available.

Season

Bathing season is defined by water sample collection schedule. Lifeguards are present during the bathing season and specifically during school summer holidays between 10:00–18:00.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on results from samples taken over the most recent four years. Monitoring station number 263, DKBW number 389. Low risk of cyanobacteria growth in the area, though cyanobacteria can drift from the Øresund. Only minor macroalgae growth within 4 metres depth.

Risks

Risk of sewage overflow from sewer system during heavy rainfall, causing short-term bathing water pollution lasting up to 2 days after the event. Swimming in outflows from Esrum Å and Pandehave Å is not recommended. Potential pollution sources include outflows from Esrum Å and Pandehave Å, with the hinterland comprising both sewered urban areas and non-sewered agricultural properties.
