Endelave vest for havnemole is an excellent quality bathing water located on the west side of the harbour mole on Endelave island in Denmark. The beach extends approximately 1 km and consists of sand 5–10 metres wide, with a seabed composed mainly of sand mixed with gravel and stones. A new bathing facility was introduced in summer 2021, featuring a 40-metre curved wooden bridge connected to the northwestern part of Endelave Harbour, with a platform and two sunken bridge sections. A designated swimming lane and kayak polo lane are marked at the facility.

Water

Sea water with salinity of approximately 2.4%. The beach is approximately 1 km long and 5–10 metres wide. Water depth increases gradually. The seabed consists mainly of sand mixed with gravel and stones.

Location

Endelave island, west side of Havnemolen (harbour mole). An information board is located at the beach immediately west of the mole. Parking is available.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent bathing water quality. Water quality is determined based on data from the preceding year and previous bathing seasons. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) is low. Risk of phytoplankton growth is low. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) may occur at the water's edge.

Risks

Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) may accumulate at the water's edge; bathing near accumulations is discouraged because toxins can form in decaying seaweed and seaweed shields disease-causing bacteria from UV rays, allowing bacteria to survive longer. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. Bathers are advised not to swim if water clarity is poor and feet are not visible at knee depth. Children should not play near washed-up algae.
