Endelave, Lynger Strand

Endelave Lynger Strand is a bathing beach located on the south side of Endelave near the summer house area of Lynger Strand. The beach is approximately 350 metres long and consists of a sandy area about 10–15 metres wide. The water near the shore and extending 30–40 metres out is predominantly sandy with few larger stones. The beach has a gradually sloping bottom.

Water

Coastal bathing water. Beach length approximately 350 metres. Sandy area width 10–15 metres at the water's edge and extending 30–40 metres into the water. Bottom gradually slopes. Salinity approximately 2.4%. Typical current direction is northward around Endelave, with east–west flow on the south side. Flow is weak and varies with tidal conditions.

Location

South side of Endelave near the summer house area of Lynger Strand. Access is via Brombærvej through the summer house area. The beach can also be reached by walking along the shore from the harbour pier. An information sign is posted on the beach.

Water Quality

Water classified as Excellent based on 2019 season analyses. The bathing area was newly designated in 2019. Water quality is regularly measured at the Søndermølle station approximately 1 kilometre west of the area and is classified as Good/Excellent. Under heavy rainfall, a drain outlet near the sampling station may cause temporary pollution from dilute wastewater, typically lasting no more than 3 days.

Risks

Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) may accumulate at the water's edge; bathing is not recommended near such accumulations as toxins can form in decaying seaweed and bacteria may survive longer protected from UV rays. Drain outlet near the sampling station may cause temporary pollution during heavy rainfall. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) is small. Risk of phytoplankton growth is small.
