Erritsøhus Strand is a bathing beach located southwest of Fredericia city centre, facing east towards Lillebælt. The beach stretches approximately 1 km along the strait, with the bathing area measuring about 200 m long and 5–10 m wide. The water is shallow, reaching approximately 2 m depth up to 100 m from the shore, with a fine sand bottom. No public facilities are available on the beach.

Water

Lillebælt (a strait). The bathing area is approximately 200 m long and 5–10 m wide. Water depth is approximately 2 m up to 100 m from the shore. The bottom is fine sand. Salinity is approximately 20–22 ‰. Current direction is primarily determined by wind direction; northbound currents are stronger than southbound currents year-round. Strong currents can occur through Snævningen in Lillebælt.

Location

Southwest of Fredericia city centre, oriented towards Lillebælt. Access is via a walking path through Krügersvej. No parking facilities are available.

Bathing season monitoring occurs from spring through summer. Water quality analysis is conducted 5 times during the bathing season.

The water is classified as 'excellent', the highest bathing water quality classification. Water quality is analysed 5 times during the bathing season, with results published on the municipality's website. The risk of faecal contamination is assessed as low.

Risks

Risk of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) is generally low but can occur in summer during prolonged heat. Risk of plant plankton blooms is low. Seaweed (macroalgae) can occur at the water's edge; risk of seaweed accumulation is low in summer. Weever fish are present in shallow water during summer and pose a risk of painful spine injury. Sea lice (jellyfish) are present in northern Lillebælt during summer, with stinging tentacles that can float several metres from the body. Glass shards, litter, and discarded objects can occur. Chemical pollution including oil spills is possible.
