Feddet

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Feddet is a sandy beach located on the eastern side of the Feddet peninsula in Faxe Municipality, bordering the Baltic Sea. The beach is approximately 20 meters wide with good swimming conditions and sparse beach vegetation. The area behind the beach is privately owned by Strandegård and is extensively used by camping guests. Part of the beach is designated as an official nudist beach.

Water

Baltic Sea beach. Water depth reaches a maximum of 2 meters up to 150 meters from the shore. The deepest point in Faxe Bay is approximately 14 meters, located about 850 meters from the coast. Water salinity ranges from 5–18 psu. Summer water temperature ranges from 14–20 degrees Celsius. Water flow conditions are highly dependent on wind and tidal conditions.

Location

Located 5 kilometers south of Faxe Ladeplads in Faxe Municipality, Denmark. The beach is associated with Fed Campingplads. Approximately 200 meters from the private parking area to the beach. Parking costs 20 Danish kroner.

Facilities

Parking, lifeguard post, toilets at the campground, net for ball games, mini golf course, waste bins.

Season

Monitoring and analysis occur throughout the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent, the highest bathing water quality classification. Classification is based on analysis data from the previous four years. No registered discharges near the beach are known to influence bathing water quality. Overflows from combined sewage systems are assessed as a minor risk.

Risks

Risk of algal blooms and cyanobacteria blooms, particularly during warm, sunny, and calm periods when easterly winds may carry algae from the Baltic Sea toward the coast. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) washing ashore during storms and onshore winds, creating aesthetic problems and potential oxygen depletion. Agricultural runoff from the hinterland may contribute nutrients and pesticides, which can affect algae growth.
