The Foce Fiume Lauro is a sandy beach located in the Lesina Lagoon, a transitional water body in San Nicandro Garganico. The bathing water extends 0.65 km and is classified as having good quality based on 2017–2020 monitoring data. The area has not experienced algal blooms or toxic phytoplankton proliferation in recent years.

Transitional water body (lagoon). The Lesina Lagoon–Frammatteo-Nisi watershed. The bathing area extends 0.65 km.

Location

San Nicandro Garganico, Foggia province, Puglia region. The bathing area is part of the Lesina Lagoon system, located from La Punta to Fiume Lauro and Foce Schiapparo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (2017–2020). No direct wastewater discharges to sea are present. The potential pollution source identified is the mouth of Canale del Lauro at the eastern boundary of the bathing area.

Risks

Heavy precipitation could increase channel discharge flow rates and transport runoff into the sea via Foce Canale Lauro. No anomalous situations have been verified. No cyanobacteria or algal blooms have been detected.
