Coastal bathing water with a stony seabed. Beach width is 5–10 meters. The 2-meter depth contour is located approximately 120 meters from the shoreline. Currents vary between northerly and southerly directions and are predominantly weak.

Location

Fogedmarken is located in Samsø Municipality. Access to the beach is via a path through the summer house area.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. A discharge outlet from a bog area and drainage canal approximately 500 meters south of the monitoring point is loaded with wastewater from septic tanks in the summer house area and open countryside. Weakly elevated values of faecal indicator bacteria may be recorded during northward currents.

Risks

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) blooms may occur during certain current directions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Macroalgae (seaweed) and/or phytoplankton blooms may occur; large amounts of seaweed at the shoreline are not recommended for bathing due to potential toxin formation in decaying seaweed and protection of disease-causing bacteria from UV degradation.
