Long sandy beach located at the mouth of Rio Sizandro, surrounded by cliffs and dunes. The beach features fine white sand in an environment rich in natural systems. Good conditions exist for surfing, bodyboarding, and sport fishing.

Location

Torres Vedras municipality. Coordinates: LAT 39.1037°, LONG -9.40125° (ETRS89).

Season

June 12 to September 12 (2021 season). Sampling frequency: triweekly.

Water Quality

Water quality classification 2020 according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Contamination risk is very low based on historical water quality data. No days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution events occurred during the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution may occur due to excessive river discharge during heavy rainfall events, typically lasting 1–2 days. Fecal contamination potential source is Rio Sizandro during intense precipitation. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation are unlikely.
