Frente Urbana Norte is a heavily used urban bathing area integrated into the city fabric of Vila do Conde. The beach features an extensive sandy area extending over 800 metres and encompasses five beach concessions: Barcos, Mar e Sol, Luzimar, Pôr do Sol, and Atlântica.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored every two weeks. No days of bathing being advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution occurred during the 2024 bathing season. Classification follows Decreto-Lei 135/2009, amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012.

Risks

Short-term pollution is unlikely but may occur due to rainwater network contamination, vessel spillages, or precipitation events involving microbiological load. Potential microbiological pollution sources include faecal contamination from the rainwater network or fishing harbour. Cyanobacteria proliferation potential is low. Macroalgae proliferation potential is moderate. Phytoplankton proliferation potential is low. An alert system for pollution events is not yet implemented; warning signs will be posted if pollution risk occurs.
