Ganaoc Beach is a bathing area located in the commune of Saint-Pabu. The beach profile was established in February 2023 to identify pollution sources and assess water quality according to European Directive 2006/7/CE. The study evaluates bacteriological parameters including intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli to classify the bathing waters and develop management measures to protect public health.

Coastal marine water body with tidal characteristics. Tidal amplitude and tidal currents are present. Summer water temperatures and wave conditions (swell and wind-driven) are documented.

Water Quality

Water quality classification determined according to Directive 2006/7/CE using bacteriological parameters: intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli. Monitoring results from 2014 to 2022 are analysed. Percentile 95 and percentile 90 values for E. coli and enterococci tracked over time. 2022 ARS (health authority) sampling results available.

Risks

Rainfall, tidal coefficient, wind, and seasonality influence contamination results. Stormwater discharge outlets identified as pollution sources. Spatial and temporal analysis of contamination episodes conducted.
