Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Heisterberger Weiher is a 9.4-hectare lake located on a high plateau in the Westerwald region at 530 metres elevation, surrounded by forests and meadows near the border between Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. The lake was created in 1711 as a water reservoir and fish pond. It is situated north of the B255 federal highway, approximately 24 kilometres from Weilburg and 12 kilometres from Herborn. The lake has a maximum depth of 7.16 metres and a mean depth of approximately 3 metres. Water inflow comes from a small stream from the west that carries little water during summer.
