Hvidovre Havn is a recreational harbor in the eastern part of Hvidovre Municipality with 200 boat berths and active water sports clubs. The bathing station is located at Lodsparken near a winter swimming club on the southern pier and a bathing ladder on the northern pier. Water depths at the sampling sites are approximately 1.35 to 1.40 meters. The water quality has been classified as excellent based on 2021 data.

Water

Recreational harbor with water depths of 1.35–1.40 meters at the bathing stations. Water current direction is highly variable throughout the bathing season, most often from the south (recorded as S, SE, SW in 2021). Water temperature during the 2021 season ranged from 17–26 °C.

Location

Hvidovre Havn is located south of Lodsparken in the eastern part of Hvidovre Municipality facing Kalveboderne. Access is via Hvidovre Strandvej or Strandhavevej. Parking is available at Strandhavevej for visitors. Toilets are located at Strandhavevej 57, 2650 Hvidovre, facing the parking area.

Facilities

Toilets available at the harbor facing the parking area (Strandhavevej 57). Alternative toilets at Sejlklubben Suset if main toilets are closed. No lifeguards present.

Season

Official monitoring and swimming season runs from 1 June to 1 September. Water samples are collected 10 times during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on 2021 data. All houses in Hvidovre Municipality are connected to sewer systems leading to treatment plants. During heavy rainfall, combined sewer overflows may occur, with potential impact on fecal bacteria levels and environmental contaminants. At this location, overflow impact is considered relatively low due to dilution before reaching the bathing area. Harbor sediment is contaminated with heavy metals, PAHs, and TBT, but water and sediment samples at the bathing station show no pollution exceeding drinking water or soil quality criteria.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria blooms is small; none previously observed. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is small; none previously observed. Risk of macroalgae is small; none previously observed. Bathing station is located at the outlet of Hvidovre Recreational Boat Harbor with contaminated harbor sediment. Short-term contamination may occur following heavy rainfall due to sewer overflows, typically lasting up to 3 days after rainfall ends.
