Stranden ved Valbyparken is a sandy beach with a sand bottom located within Valbyparken park at the end of Tudsemindevej in Kalveboderne. The beach borders a large grassy area and features variable water depth with very shallow water near the shore. The water is saltwater with weak to strong currents, predominantly from easterly and westerly directions. The beach is open year-round but has no lifeguards; swimming occurs at swimmers' own risk.

Water

Saltwater bathing area with sandy bottom. Water depth is variable, very shallow near the shore. Water currents are weak to strong, predominantly from easterly and westerly directions.

Location

Stranden ved Valbyparken is located in Valveboderne at the end of Tudsemindevej within Valbyparken. Two disabled parking spaces are available, along with bicycle parking and electric bike charging. The site has level-free access around the beach and tile-paved pathways leading to the sand.

Disabled parking spaces (two), bicycle parking, electric bike charging, disabled toilet (closed in winter), gravel pathways, level-free access around the beach, tile-paved area for sunbathing for wheelchair users, tile-paved pathway to the sand, water quality warning system with on-site lamp and mobile application.

Season

The beach is open year-round. Official bathing season monitoring occurs with water quality forecasts provided throughout the year.

Water Quality

In 2023, the bathing water quality was classified as Excellent (2020-2021) and Good (2023). The beach was closed with a red flag for a total of 251 hours during the 2023 bathing season, equivalent to 8.5% of the time. The nearest overflow structures are located approximately 100 metres and 1,000 metres east and west of the beach. During periods of intensive rainfall, discharge from overflow structures may contaminate the bathing water with bacteria. No other known pollution sources exist within the bathing water profile area.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) is assessed as low. Risk of phytoplankton growth and macroalgae is assessed as low. Occasional contamination from glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
