Port Homard beach is located on the Chausey archipelago, 17 km off the coast of Granville in northwestern France. The beach is 150 m long and 260 m wide with fine sand and rocks. It has a gentle slope and receives moderate visitor numbers between 100 and 1,000 people per day. The beach is unsupervised and has no sanitary facilities in the immediate vicinity.

Location

Chausey archipelago, southern coast of Grande Île, 17 km offshore from Granville, Normandy. Territory of Granville municipality. No parking or access infrastructure available on the island.

Facilities

Information panel on beach access updated weekly. No lifeguards. No sanitary facilities at beach. Animal access prohibited.

15 June to 15 September

Water Quality

Bathing water quality classification: Excellent. Water quality has been monitored since 2015. E. coli concentrations: 86% of results below guide values; no breaches of mandatory threshold of 1000 E. coli/100 ml observed. Intestinal enterococci: 100% of measurements below guide value of 100 enterococci/100 ml. Elevated concentrations recorded during heavy rainfall periods.

Sewage discharge from collective and non-collective systems. Agricultural pollution sources. Port and mooring zone activities. Mobile home and camper areas. Elevated bacterial concentrations occur during heavy rainfall.
