La Pointe du Lude beach is located on the west coast of the Manche department in the commune of Donville. The beach extends 380 meters in length with a width of 400 meters at high tide coefficients ≥95, featuring fine sand and a gentle slope. It is a monitored bathing area during the summer season with lifeguard presence and is used for swimming, water sports including surfing and sailing, and fishing activities.

Water

Shallow coastal water body with depths less than 30 meters. The intertidal zone consists of fine sand with a gentle slope.

Location

The beach is situated in the commune of Donville on the west coast of the Manche department, between the communes of Breville-sur-Mer to the north, Longueville and Yquelon to the east, and Granville to the south. Parking with over 100 delimited spaces is available along the street.

Facilities

Sanitary facilities located north of the beach on rue de la plage. Lifeguard station present. Dogs are prohibited off-leash on promenades and beach. Beach maintenance is performed by the commune.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored according to Directive 2006/7/CE, with testing for Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. The monitoring point is located at coordinates X=312010 and Y=2434840 (Lambert II extended system). Historical data on classifications and water quality assessments are documented.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include domestic wastewater, diffuse pollution from rainwater, agricultural activities, and coastal discharges. Coastal outfalls (emissaires PLU7EN and PLU7EN Bis) have been modeled for bacterial flux dispersion in seawater.
