Location

Located in the municipality of Nonio, province of Verbano Cusio Ossola, Piedmont region. The bathing area is situated at an altitude of 476 metres above sea level and covers 0.059 square kilometres.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples collected between 2020 and 2023. Escherichia coli levels: 90th percentile 20.4 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 32.8 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci levels: 90th percentile 57.4 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 95.7 MPN/100 ml. A wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 500 metres away.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can trigger overflow systems and accidental failures of pumping installations can cause untreated wastewater discharge into the lake. Improper management of the sewage network is identified as a possible source of pollution. The bathing area is characterized by medium-high pressure levels from sewage systems (class IV), treatment plants (class II), and built-up areas (class I). No cyanobacterial blooms, macroalgal proliferation, or toxic effects on bathers have been recorded in the preceding four years.
