Irr- or Zellersee, also known as Tiefgraben, is a lake covering 3.55 square kilometres with a maximum depth of 32 metres. The lake has a small volume resulting in low heat storage capacity. Its sheltered location leads to regular ice coverage in winter and high water temperatures in summer. Water visibility is occasionally affected by mineral turbidity, biogenic decalcification, and phytoplankton. Water quality has improved in all parts of the lake since approximately 1985 due to remediation efforts.
