Location

Located immediately south of the southern harbour pier at Kastrup Lystbådehavn. Access is from the harbour promenade opposite the kayak club. A bathing ladder is available at the site.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent quality. Water quality is monitored 20 times during the bathing season (1 June to 1 September), exceeding the minimum requirement of 4 samples per season. Classification is determined annually after the bathing season based on statistical analysis of data from the current and preceding three years. Multiple years of bathing water analyses indicate that treated wastewater discharge or overflows from overflow structures have no significant impact on bathing water quality.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms can occur, typically after heavy rainfall followed by warm periods. Signs include unclear discolored water, foam formation, and dead animals. Toxins can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea. Large amounts of macroalgae (seaweed) can occur; bathing near large seaweed accumulations is not recommended due to potential toxin formation and protection of disease-causing bacteria from UV rays. Short-term pollution from heavy rainfall causing sewage system discharge typically lasts up to 3 days. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
