Kiriou beach is located in the commune of Trédrez-Locquémeau within Lannion-Trégor Communauté in Brittany, France. The beach drains a small watershed of 164 hectares with predominantly forested and agricultural land cover. Water quality monitoring has been conducted by the regional health authority (ARS) since 2012, with bacteriological analyses tracking E. coli and enterococcus concentrations. The beach's vulnerability profile was updated in December 2017 to assess potential pollution sources and their impact on bathing water quality.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by the regional health authority (ARS) through bacteriological analyses measuring E. coli and enterococcus concentrations. Monitoring data was collected between 2012 and 2017, with classification determined according to both the 1976 and 2006 EU bathing water directives. A shellfish farming zone (Banc du Guer) is located near the beach, with a recreational foot-fishing prohibition zone also established in the area. Ulva algae (green algae) has been documented as beaching on the site.
