Notigou beach is located in the commune of Trédrez-Locquémeau, which is part of Lannion-Trégor Communauté in Brittany, France.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by the ARS (Regional Health Agency) with bacteriological analyses measuring E. coli and enterococcus concentrations. The beach has been classified according to both the 1976 and 2006 bathing water directives. Monitoring results and classifications have evolved between 2010 and 2017. The site has been subject to restrictions on recreational shellfish gathering due to water quality concerns.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include wastewater collection and treatment systems, stormwater drainage systems, and agricultural activity in the watershed. Green algae (ulves) and filamentous green algae have been recorded as ecological events at the nearby Locquémeau site. The Coat Trédrez stream presents a contamination risk, with documented overflow incidents at repressurization stations between 2014 and 2017.
