La Mitre is a bathing beach in Toulon measuring 150 metres long and 10 metres wide, located on the southeastern coast. The beach has difficult access via a customs path from Port Saint Louis or by a narrow road. It is situated near Pipady point and close to the Eygoutier outlet. The beach benefits from good water circulation due to its open configuration. A rescue post is present on site.

Open Mediterranean beach, 150 metres long and 10 metres wide. Watershed area of 0.04 square kilometres. South-east facing orientation.

Location

Toulon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. Access via customs path from Port Saint Louis or by narrow road to Pipady point. Located near military terrain.

Rescue post present on site.

Season

Active monitoring conducted from June to September. Daily monitoring during dry weather, weekly monitoring during wind from the east, and at least one bacteriological analysis per week at the ARS sampling point.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as EXCELLENT since 2015 based on Regional Health Agency (ARS) sampling. Low algal bloom potential with no historical algal bloom incidents. Vulnerability index classified as low.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include the Eygoutier watercourse (medium risk of bacterial pollution from street washing, accidental sewage discharge, and storm overflow), Port Saint Louis black water discharge (medium risk), and two rainwater collectors (low risk from street run-off). Expected pollution is short-term, not affecting water quality beyond 72 hours. Low risk of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or phytoplankton proliferation.
