Pipady Ouest is a beach located in Toulon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, consisting of a mixture of pebbles, small stones, and sand. The beach measures 20 metres in length and 10 metres in width, with a southward orientation and closed configuration. It is situated in proximity to a military zone and experiences high visitor numbers during the bathing season.

Mediterranean Sea. The beach configuration is closed. Wind direction significantly influences pollution dispersion: northeasterly winds direct pollutants toward the coast, while southeasterly winds disperse them offshore.

Location

Toulon, Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Coordinates: 43°06'N 5°55'E. Accessible via the coastal footpath. Parking is available at the site.

Lifeguards (4 lifeguards present). Rescue post available. Showers. Toilets. Drinking water point. Waste bins. Parking. Disabled access to the site. No water entry equipment for disabled persons. No animals allowed. No restaurants.

Season

June to September. Daily surveillance from 10:00 to 19:00.

Water Quality

Microbiological monitoring is conducted through regulatory analysis and self-monitoring by a service provider from the TPM agglomeration community. The beach was first opened to public bathing in 2011, following transfer from military control in June 2010. Potential pollution sources include wastewater pumping stations, storm water outlets, maritime traffic, and stagnant water bodies near the Royal Tower.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution from stagnant water near the Royal Tower and from wastewater overflow. Storm water outlets may transport canine faecal matter, vehicle hydrocarbons, and macro-waste. Maritime traffic poses risks of wastewater and hydrocarbon discharge. Stagnant water bodies present risks of bacterial proliferation and mosquito larvae development.
