La Potinière is a sandy beach located in Hyères in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southern France. The beach measures 50 metres in length and 20 metres in width, with an eastward orientation and semi-enclosed configuration. It is designated for bathing use and experiences moderate visitor frequency. The beach is managed as a concession by the local metropolitan authority.

Hyères, Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, France. Access via Avenue de la Méditerranée. Parking is available. Coordinates: N 43°04'40.8" - E 6°09'18.8".

One WC with disabled access (PMR). Parking available. Restaurants nearby. No lifeguards. No showers. No potable water point. Animals not permitted. No equipped water access for disabled persons.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022: Excellent, according to Directive 2006/7/CE. Microbiological monitoring conducted by ARS (health authority) and automated surveillance by a service provider. No microbiological contamination detected in 2019, 2021, or 2022. Preventive closures occurred on 04/06/2020 due to unfavourable weather conditions and on 28/06/2022 and 14/09/2022, with no contamination confirmed in subsequent testing. No chemical pollution recorded from 2019 to 2022. No biological pollution events recorded from 2019 to 2022.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified: discharge of contaminated water from Hyères port (black water and stormwater runoff) classified as medium risk during rainfall; stormwater collectors from street runoff classified as low risk; potential overflow from pumping stations classified as low risk; discharge of contaminated water from mooring zones classified as low risk. Stormwater discharge from the Palyvestre canal and military zone, with a pumping station to control flooding during heavy precipitation. Stormwater runoff from port quays including cleaning water after Sunday markets and craft fairs (daily from 1 July to 31 August). Discharge from two ship careening zones.
