Laidis Mile C is an extensive sandy beach with scattered pebbles located in the Limassol District of Cyprus. The beach stretches for 990 metres in a nearly straight north-south direction with sparse vegetation, primarily scrub. Two private food and recreation facilities are located on the beach. Water sports activities take place regularly, with a maximum daily visitor count of 2,200 swimmers.

Water

Coastal waters in the southern Limassol Bay. Average water depth is 2 metres, with a maximum depth of 3.5 metres. The shoreline is 990 metres long with a sandy seabed of uniform grain composition and few pebbles. The seabed contains no artificial structures.

Location

Located in Asomatos Community, Limassol District, Cyprus. Access is via a dirt road from Limassol New Port, which passes near the beach and connects to the local road network.

Facilities

Two private food and recreation facilities operate on the beach. Approximately 15 waste bins are distributed along the beach length. No other public infrastructure is available on the beach.

Season

Monitoring data covers the 2008-2010 swimming seasons. Monitoring has been conducted for many years according to Directive 76/160/EEC since Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on long-term monitoring data. No short-term pollution incidents have been recorded during the 2008-2010 swimming seasons. The coastal body of water is in good ecological status. The monitoring point is centrally located on the beach where swimmers naturally congregate under normal conditions.

Risks

A moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton growth exists due to pollution sources in the terrestrial and marine zones. Possible short-term pollution sources include malfunction of septic systems from coastal developments, fish farms, and transiting vessels. The risk of short-term pollution is negligible.
