Lago Di Cavedine

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Spiaggia Est is a bathing beach on Lake Cavedine in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, located in a glacial valley north of Lake Garda. The shoreline is rocky and barren with steep slopes nearly everywhere. The beach extends approximately 100 metres in length and 20 metres in width, typically hosting between 100 and 200 swimmers per day. The lake is used for hydroelectric purposes and connected to Lakes Toblino and Santa Massenza via the artificial inflow Rimone.

Water

Alpine glacial lake at 214 metres above sea level. Area: 2.1 km². Rocky and barren shoreline with steep slopes. Used for hydroelectric purposes.

Location

Cavedine, Trento province, Trentino-Alto Adige region. Parking available. Located in the lower Sarca valley between Dro and Pietramurata.

Facilities

Surveillance tower for swimmers, playground, hotel, parking, restrooms, bar, equipment rental and storage for water sports. Animals permitted.

Water Quality

Classified as EXCELLENT in years 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Mean total phosphorus concentration for 2014–2016 was 21 µg/l. Nitrate concentrations are well below vulnerability thresholds. Wastewater treatment by Pietramurata treatment plant. No pollution causes detected in the last four years.

Risks

Possible infiltration of organic substances from wastewater dispersal. Potential for cyanobacterial blooms and toxic phytoplankton, though no events occurred in the last four years.
