Spiaggia Grande

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Spiaggia Grande is a pebbled and rocky beach with grassy areas located on Lake Tenno at 570 metres elevation. The beach extends approximately 900 metres with an average width of 30 to 40 metres. The lake is an oligotrophic (nutrient-poor) body of water surrounded by the Alps between the Ledro and Misone Brento-Casale mountain groups. The water body maintains excellent quality with no significant pollution sources identified in recent years.

Water

Alpine lake (Lago di Tenno). Surface area 195,190 square metres. Maximum depth 47.7 metres. Spring snowmelt increases water level by 13–14 metres; winter levels decrease by 6–7 metres. Water intake from Rio Secco stream; discharge occurs through subsurface filtration emerging in the Magnone stream 700 metres downstream. Part of the Sarca river basin.

Water Quality

Classification: EXCELLENT (2016–2019). Monthly water quality analyses conducted April–September showing full compliance with bathing water legislation parameters. Total phosphorus concentration 3 µg/l (2012). Chemical status GOOD (2012). Oligotrophic state confirmed by limnological studies (1980–1996, 1996, 2003). Nitrate concentrations well below vulnerability thresholds. No point pollution sources identified. No algal blooms documented.
