Casino is a bathing zone in Valras-Plage commune in the Occitanie region of France. The beach is located approximately 1.5 km west of the Orb river estuary along the Mediterranean coast. This bathing water profile was established in January 2011 in accordance with European Directive 2006/7/CE requirements to assess water quality and identify potential pollution sources affecting swimmers' health.

Mediterranean coastal bathing water. The study area includes the Orb river basin upstream, with a distant influence zone covering approximately 28 km² and extending 8 km along the Orb river from its mouth.

Location

Valras-Plage commune, approximately 1.5 km west of the Orb river estuary. The profile document is available at the Town Hall (Hôtel de Ville), 10 Allée du Général Charles de Gaulles, 34350 Valras-Plage.

Water Quality

Based on simulation of bathing water quality according to Directive 2006/7/CE, the Casino beach is classified as Type 1 profile, indicating that pollution risk is not established and water quality is at least "sufficient", "good", or "excellent" status.

Risks

Potential bacterial contamination risk is evaluated based on vulnerability indicators and identified pollution sources within defined influence zones. The assessment considers hydrographical factors, weather conditions, and the distance and hydrodynamic conditions between pollution sources and the bathing zone.
