Mediterranean Sea beach in a semi-enclosed configuration with breakwaters. The immediate study zone extends 0 to 1 km from the beach, the intermediate zone extends 1 to 5 km, and the distant zone integrates a catchment area of 28 km² including part of the Orb river.

Location

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Type 1 profile under Directive 2006/7/CE, simulated from health monitoring results of the four previous bathing seasons. The water quality is classified as sufficient, good, or excellent with no proven risk of bacteriological contamination.

Risks

The beach configuration in a semi-enclosed environment with breakwaters creates high vulnerability. Pollutants may persist longer in the bathing zone due to limited currents. Wind direction influences whether pollution is dispersed offshore or pushed toward the coast.
