Lerone Ovest is a predominantly pebbly beach located in Cogoleto, Liguria, in the Genoa province. The area is strongly influenced by the presence of the Lerone stream mouth to the east, where a long sandy beach extends. The bathing water is classified as coastal with mountainous features and low stability.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2010-2012). Monitoring includes testing for Cr6+ (chromium hexavalent) during bathing water sampling. Identified pollution sources include: Arrestra treatment plant with active outfall, Lerone treatment plant with active outfall, Imhoff Pineta treatment plant, river mouth (Lerone stream), and industrial impact (Stoppani).

Risks

The bathing area is influenced by the Lerone stream mouth and industrial impact. A modelling approach for managing anomalous situations is under development. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to predominant oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.
