Lo Scoglio is a bathing water area located in Cogoleto, Liguria, with a predominantly pebbly beach that extends into a long sandy area. The bathing water is classified as excellent based on monitoring results from 2008–2011. The Ligurian Sea in this area is characterized by oligotrophic conditions that prevent cyanobacterial blooms.

Water

Coastal water body classified as CWA3 (mountain terrain, low stability). The water body is named Varazze – Arenzano. The Rio Bonaparte watershed drains into this area.

Location

Cogoleto, province of Genova, Liguria. Contact: Comune di Cogoleto via Rati 66, Tel 0109170166. The bathing area covers 0.326 hectares.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). The area has no coastal sewage treatment plants, discharge pipes, or Imhoff tanks. Chromium (Cr6+) is monitored concurrently with bathing water sampling.

Risks

The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to oligotrophic conditions. No toxic algal species blooms have been recorded in the past four years.
