Water

Semi-enclosed coastal beach approximately 1 kilometre long and 20 metres wide. Natural watershed area of 0.1 square kilometres. The beach has a south-facing orientation.

Location

La Seyne-sur-Mer commune. The beach is easily accessible. A sampling point designated 'Sablettes Est' is located near the Saint-Elme port.

Facilities

Two showers connected to rainwater network. Restaurant 'Les Palmiers' located on the beach.

Season

Official monitoring period: 15 May to 30 September (summer season).

Water Quality

The beach achieved an 'EXCELLENT' classification at the sampling point during the summer season of 2023. Vulnerability index assessed as MEDIUM. Risk of algal bloom is LOW due to correct water renewal and absence of nitrogen or phosphorus inputs.

Risks

Saint-Elme port presents a MEDIUM risk of street washing water discharge during dry weather. A black spot on the wastewater network presents FAIBLE bacterial pollution risk with increased risk during rainfall. Two rainwater collectors present FAIBLE risk of bacterial pollution from street washing. The Capitainerie pumping station presents FAIBLE risk of overflow during malfunction. The restaurant presents FAIBLE risk of greasy discharge. The Cap Sicié wastewater treatment plant emissary (50,000 cubic metres per day surface discharge) impacts the beach during south-westerly winds.
