Lido Euratom

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Lido Euratom is a free-access rocky beach located on the southeastern shore of Lake Maggiore near Ispra. The beach has a width of 10–20 metres and covers an area of 0.040–0.052 km². It is situated at an altitude of 195 metres above sea level, a few kilometres from the town centre. A small harbour and the Ispra Sailing Club are present in the area.

Location

Ispra, Lombardy, Varese province, on the southeastern shore of Lake Maggiore. Parking is available along the road.

Facilities

Parking along the road, toilets, shower, bar, restaurant, defibrillator (DAE), benches. Animals are allowed on leash.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent for the reference period 2019–2022. Monitoring is conducted by the Pallanza buoy (CNR and ARPA) to detect pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli, intestinal Enterococci, and cyanobacteria. The sewage system for Ispra is managed by a treatment plant located in the municipality of Ispra, which complies with discharge limits set by regulations.

Risks

Possible short-duration pollution events from unfavourable weather conditions, soil runoff, water accumulation, and accidental or unauthorised spills of wastewater or pollutants. Seasonal algal blooms are possible. No anomalous events were recorded. No known anthropogenic activities favour eutrophication and cyanobacteria growth.
