Sabbie d'Oro is a sandy and marshy bathing beach on the south-eastern shore of Lake Maggiore in Brebbia, Lombardia, a few kilometres from the town centre and from Ispra. The beach has a sandy shoreline adjacent to a meadow and is open to public access. Water quality is classified as sufficient based on monitoring data from 2019–2022.

Water

Lake Maggiore. Beach width: 95 metres. Area extent: 0.496 km². Altitude: 196 m above sea level. The lake is monitored via the Pallanza buoy (CNR and ARPA) for pathogenic bacteria and cyanobacteria.

Location

Located in Brebbia on the south-eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, a few kilometres from the town centre and near Ispra. The beach has an adjacent meadow area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: sufficient (2019–2022 reference period). Monitoring includes testing for Escherichia coli, intestinal Enterococci, and cyanobacteria. Some critical conditions have been identified in this area due to unfavourable meteorological conditions, local fauna, and the nearby Palude Bozza di Besozzo. Possible seasonal algal blooms may occur, but no regulatory thresholds have been exceeded in the last three years and no toxic effects on bathers or the aquatic environment have been recorded.

Possible anomalous atmospheric events, water stagnation, and spills of various substances. Possible accidental or unauthorised discharges of sewage or polluting debris. Potential seasonal algal blooms involving cyanobacteria are possible.
