Geology: sandy, silty and rocky substrate. Water stratification: stratified. Water renewal: lake with inflow, water exchange time greater than 30 days. Elevation: over 200 metres above sea level.

The bathing site is located in Meinerzhagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The responsible authority is Märkischer Kreis (District of Mark). The bathing beach or shore section is 50 metres long.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2015–2018: excellent (ausgezeichnet). Water temperature range: 0–22°C (mean 11°C). pH range: 7.3–8.5 (mean 7.7). Water transparency range: 1.5–greater than 4 metres (mean 2.5 metres). Nutrient content: mesotrophic. Observed water blooms from cyanobacteria within the past four years: none. Risk of future cyanobacterial blooms: low. Risk of future phytoplankton blooms: low. Temporal strong growth of macrophytes can occur which may impair use of the bathing site. Anthropogenic influences from various sources exist but have minimal impact on water quality due to the size of the water body and intact biological self-purification capacity. Short-term increases in turbidity and microbial counts may occur following heavy rainfall or when sediment is disturbed by visitor activity.
